The old man and the sea

"I tried to portray a real old man, a real kid, a real sea, a real fish and a lot of real sharks," Hemingway said. However, if I can write realistic enough, they can represent many other things. The story tells me a lot of things other than that. The most important thing is to learn from that perseverance. Everyone is their own brave, never expect any help and comfort from others, only with their own perseverance to challenge their goals, that goal will be closer and closer to their own. In fact, when you work hard and try to do one thing, the result is not so important anymore, because from the process you can enjoy a lot of different things. At the end of the day, the old man caught the fish, but at the end he came ashore with only one bone left. Can you say he didn't get anything because he didn't get a good result? In fact, he gets much more than you see. In this journey, he has gained not only that fish, he has gained a strong heart and the spirit of never give up. He is not afraid of the others’ eye, nor is he afraid of ridicule of public, he chooses to do what he wants to do and insist on what he wants to do. No one will not encounter setbacks in his own life, the most difficult is how to stand up in frustration and start again, and still maintain the original share of the original heart. After reading this book, I actually got a lot of inspiration, he let me know that not only having good results are successful, the process is the point to determine how much they can get in this journey of life. If the old man had succeeded in the beginning, the book would not have been so interesting. It is because he succeeds in his efforts and fearlessness that his success seems to be so meaningful. Old man and sea, one is huge one is small, when a small thing triumphed over this huge, such a victory would become more meaningful and wonderful. Everyone backs down in difficulties, and as long as you can hold on, that ultimate success is yours. There are many different crises in seemingly calm days. Sometimes in life, when you try your best to do something, it doesn't have to be good. Even if you've done your best, even if it is unfair, not everything will follow your own ideal blueprint because there's so much helplessness in life. We must have a belief in ourselves, never be defeated by difficulties, and insist on what we really think is right. Sometimes others may not understand you, but as long as you think it is right, then go ahead without hesitation! The vast and boundless sea is like a long journey of life, sometimes something would accidentally happen in your life. We are always fighting monsters in the deep sea and try win the fight for ourselves. Life is an endless pursuit, it is very long and difficult, but as long as we learn to enjoy it, we can like the elderly, overcome himself to get only his own treasure.

  1. Hi, Zoe!
“Everyone is their own brave, never expect any help and comfort from others.” How inspiring this passage you wrote is! Bravery is crucial but unnoticed attribute for human beings. Thus, the importance of being courageous can’t be overemphasized. I personally believe that bravery is a treasure for us. But a few people are still not recognized s/he actually owns it. He or she is afraid of plucking up his/her courage when facing difficulties. To be honest, I am sometimes one of the people who lacks courage as well. However, bravery is our inborn ability, so all we should do is to make good advantage of it. Just as you say, never expect others’ help and excessively depend on others because no one is born for helping you, even if you are friends.
In addition, I agree with your perspective that the process is the most vital part when you work hard to do one thing. Because what we learn must come from the challenges we go through and the knowledge we acquire in the process, the significance of the process basically surpasses the result.
Besides, I appreciate the novel you chose as it seems to be quite thought-provoking and stimulating. After I read your blog, it appeals to me, too!

  2. Thank you for reminding us through your log that success is not only defined by the result but also the process. Sometimes we forgot that success is a journey, not a destination that's why the process is often more important than the outcome. The right process will eventually lead us to the result. This reminds me of an author famous quote, "The process of writing a book is infinitely more important than the book that is completed as a result of the writing, let alone the success or failure that book may have after it is written. The book is merely a symbol of the writing. In writing the book, I am living. I am growing. I am tapping myself. I am changing. The process is the product."

  4. Hi, Zoe.
I agree what you mentioned in the content is that when you work hard and you try to do something, the important part is about the process not the result. The concept is helpful for those who is afraid to try because of failure. If we challenge a goal in different sights, that will encourage people to step out of their comfort zones. Lastly, I’m looking forward to seeing your next post!

  5. Hello, Zoe :D
I love the passage you mentioned above, which is "Everyone is their own brave, never expect any help and comfort from others, only with their own perseverance to challenge their goals, that goal will be closer and closer to their own." To be frank, being afraid of not getting good results, I always lack of confidence and courage to do everything. But, after reading your post, I figure out that bravery is our inborn ability. As a result, I should not expect others' help or depend on them heavily. All I need to do is to believe that everyone is their own brave. So, next time when I face difficulties, I should pluck up my courage to challenge and don't be afraid of failing from it. In this way, my goal may be closer and closer to me!
